Parent Information

Welcome Parents!

Are you interested in your student attending St. John Bosco High School?  Here you'll find all the information you need to get started!

St. John Bosco is an outreach program located at 9902 - 101 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta.  We operate like a one room school and accept students from Grade 10 through to Grade 12, and unfortunately we do not accept Grade 9 students.  The goal for students in St. John Bosco is to become independent, self-directed learners to prepare them for life outside of high school.  With this in mind, it is important to note that we do NOT track attendance which allows a large part of our students to be able to work during school hours.  That being said, we do keep track of the amount of work that is handed in and completed by each student.

Full-Time:

These are students who only take classes through St. John Bosco.  These students require paperwork and a copy of their Birth Certificate to keep on file, as well as a signed form in order to get their Cumulative Record from their previous school.  These students pay $100.00 towards a refundable Textbook Deposit.  As long as the textbook is returned at the end of the year, a $100 cheque will be made out to parents or to the student.  Students attend St. John Bosco at a time agreed upon by teachers, the student and parents and as stated previously, no formal attendance is taken.  The amount of work that is handed in by each student is tracked and recorded to ensure that our students are progressing well.  Each student is able to work on modules independently and are able to ask teachers for help at every step of the way.

Students:

Full-Time students are able to fast track courses, as well as they are able to take their time, which is to ensure that they are prepared fully to write their Diploma Exams when they feel they are ready.  Diplomas run every few months and updates will be sent out throughout the year in order to keep parents and students in the loop as to when Diploma Exams are.  We offer Credit Recovery for students as well as the option to redo certain courses.  In some cases, with approval from Administration, students may challenge courses.  Students are also able to take a course for the first time through St. John Bosco
