IMPORTANT DATES FROM STUDENT SERVICES

Create your free “ApplyAlberta” account at applyalberta.ca to get started. When you need documentation about previous grades or your timetable uploaded, see Ms. Martin for assistance. Also, Mrs. Lavalley in our main office can help you with your MyPass Account.

Image result for grad cap Grades 10 – 12 à Post-Secondary schools visit us throughout the year. The next visits are:

Augustana, University of Alberta campus in Camrose à November 23rd, 11:30am – 1:00pm in our common area.

Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta à Brianne St. Hilaire (St. Joe’s Alumnus) will be speaking to students about Medical School December 19th, 11:30am – 12:00pm in our library.

 

GPCN Homework Club has begun! – Every Tuesday, 4pm – 6pm, in our library, trained tutors will work with students in their core subjects, free of charge. The primary focus is on students new to Alberta, but all are welcome. Register with Marcia or Abdoul by phone: (780)538-4452 or by email : abdoul@gpcn.ca OR marcia@gpcn.ca

Needing a Grade 9 Tutor? – One of our very talented grade 10 students can work with you individually. Contact Ms. Martin in Student Services for more information.

GPRC is offering free tutoring in Room B205, their Friendship Centre –

Thursdays 4:30pm – 7:30pm is for Math/Science

Mondays 4:30pm – 7:30pm is for English/Social

The Schulich Leader Scholarship – Grade 12 students should visit http://www.schulichleaders.com/application to see the process for this award as it does vary from other awards. Students wishing to apply must submit a type-written letter of application to Ms. Martin by January 22nd, 2018. The successful school nominee must then complete the application by February 22nd, 2018.

In their letter, students must show evidence of at least 2 of the following 3 criteria:

  1. Academic Excellence
  2. Outstanding community, business, or entrepreneurial leadership
  3. Financial Need

 

By Oct. 30th, all teachers will have written comments in PowerSchool regarding progress in your classes. This is in lieu of Report Cards. All students and parents/guardians are encouraged to log in regularly to stay updated on marks and attendance. See Mrs. Brausen in the main office for your log-in information.
